New Mahindra Y400 SUV to launch on October 9, 2018


Mahindra has scheduled to release its new flagship SUV in the Indian market. Its model code Y400 is yet to receive an official name. Sources say that the Mahindra Y400 SUV gets a launch date which is on October 9, 2018. The new Mahindra Y400 SUV will replace first-generation SsangYong Rexton and will sit above the XUV500 in the company's India line-up.
During Auto Expo 2018, India the Mahindra Y400 SUV made its public debut and was showcased to the public.

The Mahindra Y400 SUV is based on the second-gen SsangYong Rexton, gets a Mahindra specific grille design which is seen commonly in other models. For Indian roads, the Mahindra Y400 SUV will feature a tweaked suspension set-up which will result in a change in handling characteristics and ride height.
Compared to the previous model, the new Y400 SUV get equipped with an Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatible 9.2-inch HD touchscreen. Projector headlamps, a 360-degree camera, a 7.0-inch LCD instrument cluster, Nappa leather upholstery with cooled seats and finally a smart tailgate. Our recent sightings of close-to-production mules have confirmed that most of the equipment above is likely to make it in the India-spec SUV.
Under the bonnet, there is a four-cylinder, 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine that pumps a 187hp and 420Nm of peak torque. Its gets a rear wheel drive. Power is transferred to a 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It’s a rear wheel drive SUV, but all-wheel-drive will be on offer with higher-spec trims
Mahindra Rexton is expected to see a price of Rs 24.5 lakh which is low due to a significant degree of localisation and will undercut its rivals in this segment - the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour also the Isuzu MU-X.
