Mahindra Marazzo Platform Could Spawn More Body Styles

The Marazzo MPV marks to be many firsts for Mahindra. Mahindra has filed almost 33 patents. Marazzo’s ladder frame and monocoque hybrid chassis are chief among the innovations including the unique transverse engine positioning. Mahindra says this platform is modular and can support a variety of body styles.

Rajan Wadhera, the president of the automobile sector, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “The platform can accommodate seven or eight seaters in the form of crossover or a big SUV. It can be even a compact segment car”. Wadhera also said that the difference between a hatchback, SUV or an MPV are blurred these days. Nowadays customers are now willing to switch from hatchback to SUV’s. Depending on the demand Mahindra can use U321 to scale down or up to develop new models.

The Marazzo’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine can be the choice for the new models in this platform with more petrol variants can be seen. The Marazzo’s 123hp, 1.5-litre engine on the S201 compact SUV is available for sale in this 2018. Mahindra also plans to launch SsangYong Rexton this Diwali along with the S201.
